What happens during Playgroup?

09.15am – 09.30am

Doors opened, children and their parents/carers welcomed

09.15am – 11.30am

All areas open inside and outside to allow children free-flow – all areas are planned according to 7 areas of learning/current topical interests.

09.45am – 10.00am

Carpet time – registration taken, calendar completed and days of the week/weather songs sung. Discussion with children about activities on offer that morning.

10.00am – 11.15am

Snack time – the children are involved in the purchasing, preparation and clearing away.


Story Time (optional)

Playgroup Calendar, which enables the children to develop their understanding of the days of the week, seasons and weather being experienced.

11.20am – 11.30am (Garden)

11.30am – 11.40am (Main Hall)

Pack toys away – children encouraged to help – tidy up song played

11.40am – 11.55am

Group games: 2 groups using both inside and outside – planned according to children’s interests and stages of development

11.55am – 12.05pm

Bible story – 2 groups, one in each hall – story sacks used.

12.05pm – 12.10pm

Circle  time  –  recall/stories,  Nursery  Rhymes,  Story Time/Show & Tell

12.10 pm

Main door opened to parents/carers. The small hall is used as the waiting area.

12.15 pm

Goodbyes. Children collected by authorised adults.
